Congolese soukus singer, dancer, producer, and composer, Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba, known professionally as Koffi Olomide, did not know the full repercussions of his violent outburst up until recently when he lost out on a hefty sum.
The Rhumba maestro’s woes with Kenya date back to two years ago when he was deported for kicking one of his dancers upon landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
It was as a result of the unfortunate incident, that Olomide was banned from Kenya.
Koffi Olomide was set to perform in Kakamega town to mark the end of the 5th Devolution Conference. His performance would have seen him take home an estimated Sh25 million.
Despite various promises to secure his performance by Kakamega governor, Oparanya, and tireless efforts by his promoters, the Immigration Department did not budge on the 61 year old’s visa ban.
